This is a straightforward question to bring to a reading, and it is one I have answered for people in a wide range of careers and circumstances since 1975.
What I look at
I look at whether the opportunity is genuinely in motion. Whether the decision is already tilting in a particular direction. Whether there is someone in the process whose view matters more than the others. Whether an obstruction exists and where it sits. I look at timing when it is visible, and I say when it is not.
I also look at something the question itself does not usually include: whether the promotion in question is the right move, or whether the energy around you is pointing toward something that does not yet have a name. Sometimes the answer to "will I get this" is yes, but the more important reading is what comes after. I report what I find.
