Do You Need an Exact Birth Time for Human Design?
Yes, Human Design needs your birth time, and the closer it is to a recorded time, the more reliable the chart. The BodyGraph is calculated from your date, time, and place of birth. A guessed time can move a planet into a different gate or line, and occasionally that changes which centres are defined. When that happens, your type or inner authority can change with it. If you do not know your time at all, I would rather you contact me before ordering than pay for a chart I cannot prepare accurately.
My Human Design reading is a CA$70 written report sent by email within 3 days. This note explains why the time matters, how to find it, what to do with an approximate time, and when a different service is the more honest choice.
Why the time matters more than people expect
Many people know their Sun sign without knowing their birth time, so it is natural to assume Human Design works the same way. It does not. The chart uses two sets of planetary calculations, the Personality and the Design, and the system places each planet in a specific gate and line. A short shift in time can change nothing, or it can move one of those positions. Usually the change is small. Sometimes it is not.
The layers that matter most to a reading are the ones most affected when a change does happen. If a channel is completed or broken, a centre can move between defined and undefined. That can change type, and it can change authority, which is the part of the chart I spend most time on. My note on inner authority in Human Design explains why that layer carries so much weight.
Where to find your birth time
The best source is a recorded time: a birth certificate that lists it, a hospital record, or another official document. Some certificates include the time and some do not, depending on where and when you were born. If yours does not, the registry or hospital may hold a fuller record.
If there is no document, ask someone who may know. A parent, grandparent, or older relative sometimes remembers the time or kept a note of it. Treat a remembered time as useful but less certain than a recorded one, and tell me which kind you have. I do not need a photograph of a certificate. Typed details are all the calculation requires.
What to do with an approximate time
If you know a window, for example between two and four in the afternoon, there is a simple check you can run yourself. Jovian Archive offers a free chart from your birth data. Generate it at the start of the window and again at the end. If the type, authority, profile, and defined centres stay the same, the uncertainty may matter less for the main features. If they change, you know the time is decisive and should be checked before any reading.
When you order, tell me the window and whether the time is recorded or remembered. I will treat everything in the report as provisional where the uncertainty could affect it, and I will say so on the page rather than hide it.
What I will not do
I do not ask you to guess simply to keep a booking moving. A reading built on a made-up time can describe a chart that is not yours, and you would have no way of knowing which parts to trust. That is the opposite of what a written report should give you. If the time cannot be established, I would rather say so before you pay than conceal the problem in a finished reading.
Readings that do not need a birth time
Some questions do not need a BodyGraph at all. If you want a reading about a situation rather than about how you make decisions, my written psychic reading works from your question alone. It is CA$70, with a written report by email in 2-3 days. If you prefer a chart system based on your name and date of birth, the Numerology Blueprint has different inputs and costs CA$65, sent by email within 3 days.
Choosing a different service is not settling for less. A reading whose inputs are sound is more useful than a detailed one built on a guess. My note on how Human Design and astrology differ explains how the chart systems on this site compare.
Signs your time may be wrong
Sometimes people send a time that is recorded but rounded, such as exactly noon or exactly midnight. That is not always a problem, but it is worth asking whether the hour was written down at the time or filled in later. A time that has been passed down within a family can also shift slightly with each retelling.
Another sign is a chart that seems to describe someone else. If your free chart shows a type or authority that does not match your experience at all, the birth data is one of the first things I would check. It is not the only explanation, since a framework will not fit everyone neatly, but it is the easiest to test.
The limits of the framework
Even with a precise time, Human Design is a reflective framework. It is not a scientific test and it does not predict events. An exact time makes the chart consistent with the system's own rules. It does not make the system a measurement of who you are. I keep that distinction visible in every report.
What to send
Send your date, exact time, and place of birth, say whether the time is recorded or remembered, and add a short note about one current question. One honest paragraph is enough. If you have no time at all, contact me first. If you want to understand what the reading covers before you check your records, my note on what a Human Design reading is sets it out. The report is CA$70, sent by email within 3 days, with no call.
Common questions
Can I get a Human Design chart without a birth time?
You can generate one, but it may not be yours. A guessed time can move a planet into a different gate or line and occasionally changes which centres are defined, and with them your type or authority.
What if I only know roughly when I was born?
Generate the free chart at the start and end of the window you know. If type, authority, profile and defined centres stay the same, the main features are less affected. Tell me the window when you order.
Will you read my chart if I do not know my birth time?
Please contact me first. I do not ask anyone to guess a time just to keep a booking moving. A written psychic reading or the Numerology Blueprint does not need a birth time.
