How Written Mediumship Readings Work
I have worked as a medium since 1975, and the question I am asked most often is a simple one. People want to know how a reading can reach someone who has passed when I never meet them, never speak to them, and never sit in the same room. It is a fair question, and I will answer it plainly here, the way I would answer it in a letter to you.
How I reach those who have passed
A reading begins in stillness. I take the names you give me and I hold them quietly, without forcing anything. Contact, when it comes, does not arrive as a voice in the ordinary sense. It comes as impressions: a manner of speaking, a turn of feeling, a detail that belongs to one particular person and no one else. Those who have passed do not announce themselves the way the living do. They make themselves known through small, specific things, and my work is to sit with patience until those things settle and become clear enough to write down.
I have never treated this as performance. There are no calls, no theatrics, no sittings where you watch me strain for effect. I work alone, in quiet, and I commit what comes through to paper. That is the whole of the method, and it has not changed in fifty years.
Why distance does not weaken the connection
Many people assume that being far away, in another city or another country, must make the contact fainter. It does not. The connection is one of energy, not physical presence. Those who have passed are not bound by miles or by the walls of a room, and neither is the part of me that reaches toward them. A name held in Sydney carries no less weight than a name held across the table from me. I have read for people I will never meet, on the far side of the world, and the contact was as steady as any I have known.
The written form works the same way. Setting a reading down in writing does not dilute it. If anything, it gives the contact room to breathe. I am not rushing to fill a silence or to satisfy a face waiting for an answer. I can sit with an impression until I am certain of it, and only then put it into words you can keep and return to. A written mediumship reading by email reaches you exactly as it left me, with nothing lost in the telling.
What you provide, and what comes through
What I ask of you is modest. I need the name of the person you wish to reach, your relationship to them, and a sense of why you have come to me now. You may add a question if there is one weighing on you, though you do not have to. Some people simply want to know that a loved one is at peace, and that is reason enough.
What comes through varies from one reading to the next, because every person who has passed is different. Often it is a reassurance, a sense of how they are now and whether they carried any burden across. Sometimes it is an acknowledgement of something left unsaid between you, or a recognition of a date, a habit, a name that means nothing to me but everything to you. I write down what I receive, in plain words, without dressing it up. You will know, reading it, whether it rings true. That recognition is yours to make, not mine to insist upon.
The honest limits
I will not promise you contact. No medium worth your trust will. There are readings where the person you hoped to reach comes through clearly and at length, and there are readings where what arrives is quieter, or slower, or different from what you expected. I cannot summon anyone to order, and I will never pretend otherwise. What I can promise is honesty: I will tell you what I receive, and I will not invent to fill a gap.
I also do not offer comfort that is false. If something comes through that is gentle, I will write it gently. If what comes is plain, I will write it plainly. My work is discreet and it is private, kept between the two of us and nothing more.
If you have someone you wish to reach, and you are content with an honest written account rather than a show, then write to me. Tell me who they were to you. I will take it from there, in my own time and with the care the work deserves.
If you want a careful, private reading on this, I work by written report.
