Life Path Number Calculator
Enter a birth date to see the arithmetic behind one Life Path number. The result is one part of a numerology chart, not a reading or a statement about what will happen in a person's life.
Calculate from a birth date
I show the month, day, and year reductions separately so you can check the result by hand. The date stays in your browser when you calculate. No name or email is needed.
The displayed number is arithmetic under the method described below. It is not a personal interpretation.

How this calculation works
A Life Path number is derived from the birth date, not from a name. For this calculator I use the published separate-reduction convention: reduce the month, day, and year independently, then add those three results and reduce the total. At each stage, 11, 22, and 33 are retained as master numbers. A number above nine that is not one of those three is reduced by adding its digits again.
This is a stated convention, not a claim that every numerologist calculates in the same way, and not a disclosure of the private interpretive method used in my written report. Showing the steps matters because two methods can produce the same final single digit while arriving through different intermediate numbers. If you have seen a different result elsewhere, compare the reductions before assuming either answer is a statement about you.
- Reduce the calendar month to one digit or a retained master number.
- Reduce the day of the month in the same way.
- Add the digits of the full year and continue reducing until you reach one digit or a retained master number.
- Add those three reduced values. Reduce that total by the same rule.
Worked example: August 12, 1990 gives month 8; day 12 becomes 1 + 2 = 3; year 1990 becomes 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19, then 1 + 9 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1. The final sum is 8 + 3 + 1 = 12, then 1 + 2 = 3.
The separate-reduction method and this example are described by Hans Decoz at World Numerology. Numerology.com also describes separate reduction and retention of master numbers. These are references for the arithmetic, not evidence that numerology predicts an outcome.
What the number can and cannot tell you
The calculation gives a number under a defined symbolic system. It does not diagnose a condition, establish a person's character, prove compatibility, or decide a career. I would not advise making a costly or unsafe choice because a number appears on a screen. Different experiences can be considered alongside a symbolic reading, but the calculation cannot replace knowledge of a real situation.
A birth date supplies only the Life Path component. In my Numerology Blueprint, I also calculate expression, soul urge, and personality numbers from the full birth name. I interpret the four together in a written report, including where their themes appear to agree or conflict. A single result here does not reproduce that work. My journal explanation of the four numbers sets out what I need and what I deliver.
The birth date you enter here is processed in the browser. If you choose to order the report, the checkout is a separate step and requires the name and birth date needed for that work. Nothing about using the calculator commits you to a purchase or adds you to a mailing list.
Questions about the calculation
Why does the calculator keep 11, 22, and 33?
Those are the master numbers under the convention used here. I do not treat them as better or more powerful people. They are simply stopping points in this arithmetic. A reader using another convention may reduce them further and arrive at a different intermediate result.
Why reduce month, day, and year separately?
That order preserves the intermediate values. Adding every digit of the date in one pass can hide a retained master number in one component, even when the final single digit happens to match. The visible steps allow you to check the difference rather than trust a label.
Does the calculator give me a reading?
No. It gives one calculated number and the operations used to reach it. It does not assign traits, predict events, or assess a personal question. A written interpretation requires context and considers more than this one number.
What if the birth date is uncertain?
Do not fill in an invented day for a personal reading. This calculator can only calculate from the date entered. If an official record is uncertain, explain that when asking about a commissioned report so I can say what is and is not possible.
Can a number guarantee an outcome?
No. A symbolic number cannot guarantee a relationship, job, financial result, or another person's decision. I would not present it as evidence for any of those claims.
